Due to many external and internal impacts, technological impacts and the need to maintain a competitive edge over rivals generates the ongoing need to refurbish and upgrade stores. The extent of refurbishment works varies from store to store depending on the condition of existing stores, latest concepts and budgetary constraints.
Typical refurbishment constraints are working to tight deadlines with all construction works completed under normal store trading conditions. It was vital that minimal inconvenience to consumers and staff was maintained, whilst meeting tight construction deadlines through innovative staging plans whilst ensuring Woolworths ‘Destination Zero’ WH&S requirements were constantly adhered to.
Scope of works vary from extensions of existing stores, reconfiguration of the trading floor, upgrading of existing stores to current BCA, Australian Standards and latest legislation, signage works, complex staging, upgraded checkouts and gondolas, mechanical including cold aisle air return, electrical, security, COMM’s/IT and refrigeration works.
